I’m sure we have all heard the well know saying and expression “Slow and steady wins the race” but in new developmental research results it does not. The Lupus drug that was meant to be so effective sadly has not shown any good results as hoped. Another downfall is that the sales have rapidly dropped because of the fail.

Yesterday (Valentines Day) a 32 year old man with the kindest of hearts gave his kidney to his girlfriend which would have to be the greatest showing of love or the best valentines gift ever. Terry Lee had only been dating his girlfriend (Trisha Beckwith) four months when she was told that she had the disease called Lupus, so Terry Lee decided to surprise his girlfriend by booking a kidney transplant operation for valentines day which brought tears and joy to Trisha Beckwith’s life. This just shows how deadly Lupus can be.

A great thing to do when you have a life-changing disease like lupus is to be inspired by other people’s stories. Although it is good to hear the facts, it is great to hear from people who have that firsthand knowledge because when you have lupus having a connection with another sufferer is a key part of getting through it. Psychotherapy on its own looks at the mental half of lupus as it is a very stressful and depressing illness. All in all scientists have found that just sharing stories and experiences can really help a person who only recently found they have lupus and lets them put lupus aside and carry on with there goals and aspirations

S.L.E recognise efforts of world famous author V.C August for her inspirational book

The S.L.E Lupus Foundation has sent out a special thanks to the well known author who also suffers from Lupus, V.C August for helping the lupus research with her new book which tells the reader about very private and personal journeys with Lupus. She has also started to take some of the income money for the books and give it to research to help the Foundation Programmes. The book is about the core problems with life and how it gets worse with a life changing illness. The S.L.E Lupus Foundation encourages people who suffer and who have suffered to come forward with their stories and experiences to help other people cope and last with the disease.

New Lupus Research Initiative

The Lupus Research Institute (LRI) introduced today its new “Distinguished Innovator Awards” program requesting applications for $1 million grants to conduct state-of-the-art research projects which aim to tranform the life of lupus sufferers. The prizes will be given to outstanding established scientists suggesting innovative schemes that join unconventional creativity with solid science to find the main causes of lupus and unlock the potential for a cure.

Carrying a baby for the full term without complications is likely when the lupus is stable

Over on spokanejournal.com we can read about the American College of Rheumatology’s annual scientific meeting in Chicago in November where a new study was presented which offered reassurances for women with stable lupus who are considering pregnancy.

Systemic lupus erythematosus, also called SLE or lupus, is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect the skin, joints, kidneys, lungs, nervous system, and other organs of the body.
